Tempting Fortune - Characters

The whole show's premise was meant to be delayed gratification, but ended up not rewarding this and just showing how selfish people can be. And I have a feeling they focussed too much on teh drama and could have spent some time showing how people have bonded and whether they are still in contact afterward. Especially when you see some toxic people stating they will gossip after they get the money.

The "twist" was done too late, and they should have done something that impacted the spenders more, eg Tahira/Luke take £5k from Carolynn.

And tbh in today's day and age where mental health is important, this show allowed the weaker team to constantly bully everyone (including one another)

Carolynn, 65, a retired trauma nurse - not most people's nana

Let's just say I wouldn't want this person looking after any vulnerable people. She spent too long gossiping, shouting, aggressive body language and manipulating others into pointless temptations. She should have been a role model. However she just didn't care about anyone bar herself.

She kept making her opinions into some facts, not realising that they are still just her opinion, and stating that money doesn't exist means she should have given her money to those who did not take the temptations, then she would have proven this point. She didn't which means she did understand it was money but just liked spending when it was a group pot. Didn't even take the last dinner though she claimed she was friends with them. Such a bully to all. 65 yr old vs 25 yr old

A weakness to be selfish is not a strength, this twisted logic would only work if it helped the group. Your selfishness never did. Her disgusting talk with Charlie during episode 5 was a huge change from how she spoke about him to the camera crew. She was just manipulating so that others would deemed her selfishness was part of the whole group and not just her. Should have just been honest and admitted that she was being selfish and applying peer pressure. Everyone just kept forgiving her for her selfishness because she's old. That is not an excuse.

Lani, 33, a graphic designer.

This character really thought she was smarter then she was. Typical entitled person. Who made her the spokesperson for the group of selfish people. As she was trying to lecture someone when she lied to the group and then told others that they cannot do what she did?

And then kept stating she was smart and couldn't even understand how to talk to people and placing her opinions as facts (just like Carolynn). She spends her time manipulating the weaker people. Bullying at it's finest. And should a 33 yr old be bullying a 25 yr old. Not really but she thought it was okay to do so. You have no right to call others boring, weirdoes and fairly crude language. If you looked in the mirror you'd realise it's just you.

James, 50, an ex-professional basketball player.

Folk seem to forget this guy is 50. Trekking and taking heavy items. Still confused as to why he keeps getting called leader. The weak just started calling him this and then it was dubbed so, even when they didn't bother respecting the leadership role they gave him.

Te teabag was hilarious but to compared £3k vs £25 still made me confused not logical at all. When hiking he kept going back to help others but everyone ignored this. When in the he would treat others with the same respect as before. Including helping Carolynn

Charlie, 25, a fish and chip shop worker.

An interesting character, who appears to want the money to invest in something, however quite impulsive. He's what the next generation are, and I was shocked to see how folk treated him he needs to be guided. But instead you had people baiting him into arguments even though he was helping people during the hike (even though some still kept gossiping badly about this)

Ashton, 28, an event singer.

I'm super disappointed that not much focus was put on the nice people. She seemed like a lovely person who helped with the harmony of the team and apparently the best cook!

Trelwey-Precious, 22, an influencer.

A person who shows true grit. Defended folk who needed it and then only took for herself when she was the only one footing the bill. An amazing example of what the next generation can be.

Tahira, 39, a field organizer.

Underrated, as she appeared to provide solutions and insights to the group dynamic, which unlike Lani and others, seemed to reflect the facts on the ground. As well as providing intelligent conversation. Stayed strong throughout, I did wonder how she was meant to react to alcoholic beverages, etc but later learnt from her responses that they provided Muslim friendly temptations so was still facing the same temptations. The fact she took nothing meant that she should have taken £25k home, like Luke.

Dee, 44, an event caterer.

She changed her script far too often, a sheep who follows a crowd and is quite rude about it. When she gossips behind people's back and then tries to force people into taking temptations she doesn't look bad. Then changes her tune when it's the group, claiming she doesn't want a backlash but glad Trewley called her out on her BS. She came in as a nobody and she'll leave the same way. Except now more people know how selfish she is.

Michelle, works in sales.

What a hypocrite. You cannot state that you have the "mentality of the wolf pack" then just do whatever you want, crying just to try and pretend that it justifies you being a twit. No one "has it out for you" they just don't like thieves. Just shows that you are neither a people pleaser (again proving Lani has no idea what she is talking about) nor strong in character. Else you would have taken big temptations if you didn't think it was about the money. And stating are only part of a team if you spend money is one of the idiotic things I've ever heard. You are just a liar who gossips about others and kept changing your tune, might be why you work in sales...

Dan, 31, a social worker.

Another person who has contact with vulnerable people. I hope his employer watches and understands that this absolute waste of oxygen needs to be monitored if he is looking after vulnerable people. I can see him ignoring huge safeguarding issues due to his blatant lack of empathy. He wonderfully quoted that he would piss through the money because he was okay with £5k. However did not give back the money he spent. Even stating that if it'd been his own money he wouldn't have spent, but as it was coming out of the shared pot he didn't care. Talks about being childish but looking at his past behaviour I'd say he was nothing but childish.

Like Dee, he is a nobody and will continue to be a nobody - although still hugely worried about the people he is meant to be looking after in his profession, that will give me some nightmares for a while.

Jack, 22, a content creator.

Who is this person, I saw he even got tired of his own group and kept walking towards the strong team. But then kept stating "once in a lifetime" and tried to create friction as if he has a backbone. A sheep who is a nobody and will remain so. That in itself might be the reason why he is so miserable.

Luke

Deserved the £25k like Tahira. He came for his own development and helped others whenever tasks were being done. "solid within a solid" made me think he was not viewed enough as he had some fascinating insights into human characteristics.
